Chateau Pichon-Comtesse-Lalande 1985
Lovely colour deep bowl, mahogany rim, very bright lustre, nose earthy and growbag like, polished cedar and tobacco, tanned leather, very complex, rich earthy fruitcake palate, perfect right now, truffles and gamey tobacco.

Deep golden colour, touch of amber, nose full open round and creamy marzipan nuts character, butter and damp hay, palate full and rich gentle maderization into confit stone fruits, sweet apricot and ogen melon on back of palate, pain grille, acidity not pronounced – needs a cooler temp than white Burgundy to not show lack of acid and hot flavours. Medium to lon length.
Very deep purple bowl fading to a red rim, high viscosity, nose delicious (after 2 hours open) ripe fat and rich raspberry/kirch aromas, meaty and bloody with bacon fat and a touch of undergrowth. Ripe fruit on attcak, medium acidity, developed tannins, length very short and disappointing compared to nose, short length and grippy mean dry tannis on sides of mouth.
Pale red brick fading to an orange rim, nose open forward and complex, gamey raw meat, undergrowth, damp forest, souis bois, not bretty but mature mushroomy, leathery, truffly like and old Barolo, touch volatile, great nose. Structure similar to an old Burgundy. Round, complete and balanced, mature and gamey palate with dried strawberry and cranberry flavours.
Nose intense, wet rock, lime pith, nervosity, smoky citrus and salted lemon character, palate big crisp, clean and long, limey citus flavour with intense mineral tang, slight smoke and wet rock. Amazing balance and length. A very distinctive Coche style.
Nose classic youthful syrah, cracked blackpepper and tar, elegant big and spicey just taking on gamey meaty, truffle and leather characters now, still very young.
Nose wet do hair and horsebox, quite bretty on opening needs lots of air, not going to be a great wine, soft cherry and cedar wood nose, soft tannins, earthy ironstone hints, med long
Full and weighty classic wine, still young, nose dense and compact, well balanced and muscular, black currant and cedar wood, palate well alanced and smoth, long finish.
