Etienne Sauzet 1983
Deep golden colour, nose nutty and old butter – not pleasant at first but with air it opened and evolved into complex marzipan and confit stone fruit aromas, amazing, very deep, lovely rich texture, great mouthfeel and balance. Very long.

Fine, open, light smoked meats and gingerbread on nose, full ripe sweet and still youthful, dried cherry, some minerally ironstone aromas, palate soft long and persistent, soft tannins and balanced acidity. (NB- first vintage after Latour went back to Stainless steel fermentation tanks).
Nose solid and firm, quite tight, very fine and elegant, hiding lots of power and complexity, fruit on palate solid, weighty tannins very youthful, great elegance and class, young thoroughbred racehorse. Will age fantastically.
Nose open very aromatic, delicious old Amarone balsamic complexity, truffle and black chocolate aromas, earthy rich fruitcake like, palate quite soft tannins, very long and harmonious, delicious.
Mahogany with brick orange rim, wonderful lustre still for age, nose open old Italian piedmont character, like an old Barolo with a touch of olorosso sherry, rancio nuts, leather, sous bois, figs seche, prunes, round soft palate frits still sweet, superb.
