Our Personality of the Year certainly has natural talent, to taste and identify wine, but he has honed this by thousands of hours of blind tasting. He passed the Master of Wine exam in 1998. He has also been highly successful in a related field, that of wine service, and is the UK’s best-known sommelier. His Wine MBA probably came in handy, too, when starting a hotel with a long-time business associate in 1994.
